ABOUT GLORIA
Gloria Palermo, Sicilian and Cuban mezzo-soprano, is recognized by her amber tone and melismatic agility which shines in the baroque, bel canto, and contemporary repertoire. A Florida based singer, she has most recently had engagements with Opera Tampa, Gulfshore Opera, and First Coast Opera.
In 2023 Gloria completed her Artist Diploma at CU Boulder’s Eklund Opera Program. During her time there, she delivered captivating performances as the title role in Massenet’s Cendrillon, Flora in La traviata, and Lady With A Hat Box in Postcard from Morocco. Gloria also had the honor of workshopping with Tom Cipullo on his new opera, The Calling, at CU’s New Opera Workshop. That same year, she won 2nd place in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition.
Prior to her Artist Diploma studies Gloria was a Studio Artist for two years at Opera Orlando, where she sang acclaimed performances as Hansel in Hansel and Gretel and Mercédès in Carmen.
In addition to her performance career, Gloria is a dedicated and passionate voice teacher. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes a free, unencumbered vocal technique and fostering each singer's unique sound. Her students have gone on to achieve success in auditions, competitions, and professional engagements.
