Gloria Palermo, Cuban and Sicilian mezzo-soprano, is recognized by her amber tone and melismatic agility which shines in the baroque, bel canto, and contemporary repertoire. Gloria recently completed her Artist Diploma at CU Boulder’s Eklund Opera Program, where she performed the title role in Massenet’s Cendrillon, Flora in La traviata and Lady With A Hat Box in Postcard from Morocco. Her highlights of 2023 include workshopping with Tom Cipullo on his new opera The Calling in CU’s New Opera Workshop and winning 2nd place in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition. In November of 2022 Gloria was awarded the Beverly Sears Grant at CU Boulder for her thesis recital featuring John Harbison's Mirabai Songs with full chamber ensemble. During the summer of 2022 Gloria was an Apprentice Artist at the Santa Fe Opera. In 2021 she received the Encouragement Award for the Southeast Region at the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. Gloria holds a Master’s in Music from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s in Music from Rice University. She has received additional training at the Tanglewood Music Festival and the Aspen Music Festival.
